Study on the Toxic Effects of Asarum sieboldii against Reticulitermes flaviceps

For the elimination of chlordane, the urgent task is to develop the alternative chemicals for termite control. In order to explore the possibility of Asarum sieboldii as the preventive termiticide, the toxic and repellent effects of Asarum sieboldii against Reticulitermes flaviceps were determined in laboratory. The results indicated that the Asarum sieboldii powder has good toxic and repellent activity against Reticulitermes flaviceps. Meanwhile, the Asarum sieboldii powder has good retarding effects on the tunneling of Reticulitermes flaviceps when it was mixed into soil. It is thus necessary to do further work on the isolation of active components, active mechanism, and control effects in the near future.
