Research progress on the wetting and deposition behaviors of pesticide droplet on target surfaces with the addition of surfactants

    • The wetting and deposition behaviors of pesticide droplet on target surfaces are the important processes in dose transfer system. The addition of appropriate surfactants in pesticide formulation is an effective method to improve the wetting and deposition properties on target surfaces, which will result in the infiltration and transmission of active ingredient to prevent plants from harmful organisms. Recent research progress on target surfaces properties, and the influence of surface chemical composition and surface morphology on the apparent surface free energy of solid were reviewed. The wetting and deposition behaviors of surfactants on smooth, rough solid surfaces with onefold surface chemical composition and plant leaf surfaces with complex surface chemical composition were summaried respectively, in order to assist the development of new strategies and methods for the preparation of pesticide formulations. Recent advances in this research area can provide theoretical basis for improving the effective pesticide utilization with the addition of surfactants, and realize the effciency of chemical pesticide application.
