Adsorption and leaching behavior of cyclanilide in soil

    • In order to evaluate the ecological safety of cyclanilide in soil environment, the adsorption and leaching behavior of cyclanilide in soils was conducted by the batch equilibration techniques. Data were analyzed using mathematic models to describe the characteristic mechanism of adsorption and the shift of cyclanilide in soils. The results showed that the adsorption isotherms of cyclanilide was well described by linear equation. The adsorption values Kd of cyclanilide in 5 types of soils ranged from 1.41−7.08. The order of the mobilities of cyclanilide in different soils was as follows: Dongbei black soil > Shaanxi tide soil > Changshu wushan soil > Taihu paddy soil > Jiangxi red soil. It was found that the Kd value decreased with the increase of the pH value of soil. The simple linear correlations were regressed between OM, soils pH value and the value of adsorption coefficient (Kd), which indicated that the soil pH value was the dominating factor influencing the cyclanilide retention in all the systems. The mobilities of cyclanilide in 5 types of tested soils were high. Therefore, attention should be paid to the risk to surface water and groundwater by the use of cyclanilide.
