Research progress on the sex pheromone of Spodoptera littoralis

The research progress on the separation, structure identification of sex pheromone of Spodoptera littoralis (Boisduval) was reviewed, and the chemical synthetic methods of (9Z,11E)-9,11-tetradecadien-1-ol acetate, a major component of the pheromone were also summarized according to the construction of the double bond including reduction of alkyne, Z-selective cross metathesis of olefin, Wittig reaction and (Z)-1-vinyl cuprate. Furthermore, the advance of biological activity and the application of the sex pheromone was introduced, and the prospects and trends in this field were prospected.
