Research progress on screening and identification techniques of insect semiochemicals

    • In the chemical ecology field, electroantennography (EAG), gas chromatography-electroantennographic detection (GC-EAD), gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (GC-MS), single sensillum recordings (SSR), and gas chromatography-single sensillum recordings (GC-SSR) play significant roles in the identification, screening of insect infochemicals and are widely used in chemoreception mechanism of semiochemical, and the investigation of the interactions between insects and plants. Here, the functions and mechanisms of the five above-mentioned technologies were expounded, their applications were summarized, and will provide technical references for the research of insect semiochemicals from the perspective of chemecology.
