INDUCTION OF CARBOXYLESTERASE, GLUTATHIONE S-TRANSFERASE AND ACETYLCHOLINESTERASE BY QUERCETIN IN HELICOVERPA ARMIGERA

    • Induction of carboxylesterase (CarE) and Glutathione S-transferase by quercetin and effect of quercetin on sensitivity of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) to inhibitor were investigated in cotton bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera Hübner) during 19961998. The population, induced by quercetin, decreased the sensitivity to parathion-methyl whereas the sensitivities to methomyl and deltamethrin were not different from control population. The specific activities of CarE and GST increased 2 to 3 folds and 15 folds respectively. The sensitivity of AChE to paraoxon increased 3.5 fold in the population induced by quercetin.
