Effect of Brown-rot Fungi, Gloeophyllum trabeum, onTrail-following Responses to Several Insecticides and onField Efficacy for Dam Termite Control

    • Oral toxicity of 4 insecticides, chlorpyrifos, fenvalerate, abamectin and fipronil to two termites, Coptotermes formosanus and Reticulitermes flaviceps , was tested using different baits material. Trail following activity of the toxic baits to R. Flavicps was evaluated. The oral test showed that sugarcane was more attractive bait than that of starch and pinewood. Sugarcane bait decayed by Gloeophyllum trabeum was more attractive than the fresh one. Three of the 4 insecticides tested (except fenvalerate) maintained their attraction to the termites without losing the toxicity. A 30-day field-tests with chlorpyrifos bait gave a 66.7% rate of a termite population control on a dam.
