    Study on Artificial Rearing Technigue for Heliothis viriplaca (Hüfnagel)

    • Heliothis viriplaca were reared with artificial diet under the condition of (26±1)℃, 14L∶10D. The medium was composed of soybean power, brewer's yeast, wheat bran powder, ascorbic acid, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, sorbic acid, agar, sugar, VB1, VB2, VB3, VB5, VB6, VBC, VH,VB12, potassium hydroxide, acetic acid, formaldehyde and water. The medium could satisfactorily support the growth of Heliothis viriplaca. There were no remarkable change in eggs, hatchability, survival rate and durations of larva, adult durations, pupal durations, pupal weight, pupation rate and emergence rate over 17 generations fed on the artificial diet. Compensated with different nutritious sources, the sequence sorted by average number of reproduction by one female moth of Heliothis viriplaca is sugar+VB1, VB2, VB3, VB5, VB6, VBC, VH, VB12>sugar+Vc>sugar>water.
