Photodegradation of Oxadiazon in Various Solvents

Under the high pressure mercury lamp,the photodegradation of oxadiazon in different solvents was studied. In cyclohexane, methanol, actonitrile and distilled water, the photolytic rate was rapid, the half-life of oxadiazon was 4.45, 15.34, 57.58 and 54.69 min. But the photolytic rate in acetone was slow; its half-life was 293.83 min. The photolysis of oxadiazon in water could be activated by acetone. The photoactive rate was found distinctly related to quantity of acetone.
