Synthesis and Herbicidal Activity of Novel Substituted Amino -Sulfonyl Phenoxy Propanates

2-(p-substituted aminosulfonyl) phenoxy propanates and 2-(p-aryloxysulfonyl) phenoxy propanates were synthesized through the reaction of 2-(p-chlorosulfonyl) phenoxy propanate with numerous substituted amines and substituted phenols. All novel compounds were characterized by 1H NMR and elemental analyses and some of them were confirmed by IR and MS. Preliminary bioassay indicated that some of above compounds showed certain herbicidal activity.
