Effects of Herbicide Safeners on Levels and Activity of Cytochrome P450 and Other Enzymes of Crop

The effects of herbicide safeners on the levels and activity of enzymes involved in herbicide detoxication or that are target sites of herbicide action are summarized.In safener actions,herbicide safeners can enhance the activity of cytochrome P450 enzyme system and induce the action of P450 in the degradation of herbicides;treating with safener, the conjungation of increased glutathione(GSH) with herbicides can promote the detoxication of herbicide;the phytotoxicity of herbicides for inhibiting the acetolactate synthase(ALS) can be reduced by safener.The interrelationships of herbicide safener with peroxidase and protein sulfhydry lase in plant are discussed.
