Effects of Two Highly Water-soluble β-Cyclodextrins on the Solubilization and Photodegradation of Parathion-methyl

    • The effects of methyl-β-cyclodextrin(MCD) and hydropropyl-β-cyclodextrin(HPCD) on solubilization and photodegradation of parathion-methyl were investigated. The results showed that the solubility of parathion-methyl increased linearly with the increase of the derivatives of β-cyclodextrin. The solubilization of parathion-methyl increased 21.91 and 17.92 times, respectively ,in the presence of 20 g/L MCD and HPCD under 25℃.In addition, MCD and HPCD increased the photodegradation of parathion-methyl. The photodegradation of parathion-methyl increased 4.87~6.85 times in the presence of 3 g/L and 6 g/L MCD and HPCD. The solubilization and light activation were caused by the formation of inclusion complexes of parathion-methyl with MCD and HPCD.
