    On The Macro-toxicology of Pesticides

    • Once a pesticide is applied onto the biological target (crop or pest), a long process of dose transfer will then be initiated until the terminal target site in the pest body is reached. As a quite long process, it is suggested by the author that it should be categorized into two different areas, the 'micro-toxicology' and the 'macro-toxicology'. The former conventionally deals with the physiological and biochemical change of pesticides happened within the organisms. But the dose transfer carried on outside the pest body has never been considered a toxicological process, although many scientific phenomena and facts revealed so far in different literatures have shown that they should be. The paper gave a brief commentary review upon those phenomena and scientific facts in 7 different areas from the macro-toxicological point of view. The author belief, to be a new science area of multi-disciplinary nature, 'macro-toxicology of pesticides' will undoubtedly promote the progress of pesticide application technology, the improvement of pesticide formulation, the development of novel surfactants, and even the rational design of novel pesticides.
