Progress of Ketol-acid Reductoisomerase(KARI) as Herbicidal Target

Ketol-acid reductoisomerase(KARI) is a promising target for the design of herbicides because it is another essential enzyme for the synthesis of branched-chain amino acids in plants and microorganisms yet absent in animals. The catalytic properties, X-ray crystallography of the enzyme and the studies on the enzyme as a novel herbicidal target are described.
