The Behavioral Responses of Myzus persicae,Aphis gossypii, and Aphis glycines to Organic Solvents

    • The behavioral responses of the three aphids, Myzus persicae,Aphis gossypii and Aphis glycines to ten organic solvents used in insecticidal production were investigated in the laboratory. The results indicated that the three aphids presented a similar response while they were treated with the solvents at a dose of 1, 5 and 10 μL. There was a slight influence to be found in the aphids in response to ethyl alcohol, ethylene glycol, ethyl acetate, N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and acetone in comparison with the strong responses to benzene, xylene, n-hexane, petroleum ether and diethyl ether. The movement rates in all three aphids to both benzene and xylene were more than 30% at a suitable concentration. In addition, the responses of A. gossypii and M. persicae to n-hexane and petroleum ether reached 44.27% and 46.45%, 49.90% and 52.58%, respectively.
