Influence of Sublethal Concentration of Acetamiprid, Fenvalerate and Boric Acid on the Cellulase Activity in the Worker Termites,Reticulitermes flaviceps

    • Influence of sublethal concentrations of chemicals on the activities of endo-1,4-β-glucanase (EG) and β-glucosidase (BG) in the worker termites (R. flaviceps) was determined by the contact treatment with filter paper dipped acetamiprid or fenvalerate solution or the feeding treatment with pine wood powder mixed boric acid. The results indicated that 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 mg/L of acetamiprid solution had no significant effects on the cellulase activity in the worker termites exception of the β-glucosidase activity at 48 h after treatment of 1.0 mg/L concentration. The cellulase activity in the worker termites R. flaviceps could be inhibited significantly by the 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 mg/L of fenvalerate solution. The effects of boric acid on the cellulase activity of R. flaviceps worker depended on the concentration of boric acid in food and the time of treatment.
