• Overapplication of insecticides made the insect pests serious resistance. Insecticide resistance is an inherited characteristic involving in one or more insect genes. Target resistance is usually associated with point mutation(s). Identifying the point mutation(s) is very important in resistance management. Comments on five genotyping techniques and their application in the identification of point mutation, including single-stranded conformational polymorphism, solid-phase minisequencing, bi-directional PCR amplification of specific alleles,real-time fluores cence quantitative polymerase chain reaction and pyrosequencing, were presented.
