A Matrix Solid-phase Dispersion Method Using AgNO3-loaded Basic Alumina as Solid-phase for Determination of Pendimethalin in Garlic

    • A new analytical method of matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) using AgNO3-loaded basic alumina as solid-phase, followed by gas chromatography-electron capture detection of trace pendimethalin in garlic was presented. The effects on recovery and cleanup of MSPD conditions (the constituent and volume of eluting solvent, the amounts of water and loaded AgNO3 in MSPD sorbent) were investigated and discussed. The proposed analytical method was evaluated. The results showed that matrix effects were negligible; recoveries of pendimethalin from garlic spiked at 3 levels of 0.01, 0.10, 1.00 mg/kg ranged from 84% to 93% with relative standard deviations of 2.7% ~6.2%; and the limits of detection and quantification of the method were determined to be 2.0 and 6.7 μg/kg on the basis of signal-to-noise ratios of 3 and 10, respectively.
