Abstract
The effect of human neuroblast cells (SH-SY5Y) growth by malathion and the stereoselectivity of malathion were analyzed for the first time. After the enantiomeric separation of mamathion by HPLC, the SH-SY5Y cells were treated by 10-7~10-4 mol/L malathion,R-and S-malathion enantiomers respectively. The cell growth was measured by MTT, and cell morphology was observed by microscope. The results showed that SH-SY5Y cell growth was obviously inhibited by rac-,R- and S-malathion with dose and time fashion. 10-4 mol/L Malathion and its enantiomers displayed the most notable inhibition, and at that concentration the R-malathion inhibited the cell growth 2 times stronger than S-malathion after the treatment of 48 h, the relative inhibition ratio was about 75%. Meanwhile the results showed by microscope that cell morphology has been certain changed, such as deformation and size increasing.
