    Effects of Capsaicin on the Enzyme Activities of Glutathione S-transferase andNa+ -K+ -ATPase in Plutella xylostella

    • The effects of capsaicin on glutathione S-transferase and Na+ -K+ -ATPase of Plutella xylostella (L.) were tested with conventional methods in laboratory.The results showed that compared with the negative control,the activity of glutathione S-transferase decreased significantly after treatment for 12 hours by capsaicin at different concentrations,which ranged from 100.56 to 141.53 μmol ·L-1·mg-1Pro ·min-1.However,the activity of Na+ -K+ -ATPase increased significantly after the same treatment,which ranged from 12.43 to 20.36 μmol ·mg-1Pro ·min-1.It suggested that capsaicin can inhibit the activity of glutathione S-transferase and activate the activity of Na+ -K+ -ATPase.
