    Effects of Terpinen-4-ol on Culex pipiens Pallens and its Na+,K+-ATPase

    • The main insecticidal component was terpinen-4-ol in essential oil of Sabina vulgaris Ant.In order to study its biological activity against health pests,the effects of terpinen-4-ol on Culex pipiens Pallens and its Na+,K+-ATPase were carried out.The results showed that terpinen-4-ol had strong fumigation toxicity against C.pipiens.The values of LC50 and KT50 (under the concentration of LC80) were 6.79 mg/L and 6.92 min,respectively.The optimum reaction conditions of Na+,K+-ATPase were obtained consisting of pH 7.42,reaction temperature 35.5℃ and substrate concentration 0.7 mmol/L.Terpinen-4-ol could significantly inhibit the activity of Na+,K+-ATPase both in vitro and in vivo.In conclusion,Na+,K+-ATPase is possibly the insecticidal target of terpinen-4-ol against C.pipiens.
