Synthesis and herbicidal activity of 5-(4-hydroxymethylene)hydantoin esters

Nine novel esters containing 2,4-imidazolinedione (hydantoin) were synthesized using serine as the starting material based on the research of AdSS inhibitors carried out in the laboratory.Their structures were confirmed by IR,1H NMR spectral data and elemental analysis.The preliminary bioassay results showed that compound 3g had 70% germination inhibitory rate against Arabidopsis thaliana at the concentration of 200 μ g/mL,which indicated that this compound has herbicidal activity.
