Synthesis and fungicidal activity of N-(4-alkoxy-3,5- dimethoxyphenethyl)-mandelamide compounds

Mandipropamid is the first mandelamide fungicide on the market.Fifteen new compounds(8a-8o) of N-(4-alkoxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenethyl) mandelamide that the second OCH3 were introduced to the aromatic ring of the phenylethylamine moiety of mandipropamid were designed and synthesized using Vanillin as starting material.Their structures were confirmed by 1H NMR and HRMS.The preliminary bioassay showed that some compounds 8e,8h and 8o have good fungicidal activity.The compound 8h and 8o showed 100% inhibition rate at 62.5 mg/L against Phytophthora capsici in vivo.
