Synthesis and fungicidal activity of maleated rosin acid acylhydrazone compounds

Maleated rosin acid hydrazide (3) was prepared via acyl chlorination and hydrazinolysis using maleated rosin acid as starting material,followed by condensation of 3 with phenyl aldehydes to afford eleven novel maleated rosin acid acylhydrazones 4a-4k. Their structures were confirmed by IR,1H NMR,13C NMR and elemental analysis.The preliminary bioassay showed that,all the target compounds exhibited different fungicidal activity against five fungi tested at the concentration of 50 μg/mL,in which compound 4e (R=4-CH3OC6H4)had the best inhibition rate of 68.3% against Gibberella Zeae.
