Effects of formulations and surfactants on the behavior of pesticide liquid spreading in the plant leaves

    • In order to study the effects of different formulations and surfactants on the adhesion and spreading behavior on hydrophilic, hydrophobic leaves, the adhesion and spreading behavior of 40 kinds of different pesticide solution on cotton and rice leaves were investigated.Three different pesticides and three kinds of adjuvant were used in the experiment, which were chlorantraniliprole 50 SC,triadimefon 250 WP,triadimefon 200 EC and Silwet 408,NF100,AgroSpred 730,respectively.The spreading behavior of different pesticide solution droplets on two crops leaves was recorded by using digital microscope. The results showed that the effect of different formulations on surface tension of the pesticide solution was not significant, but the effect of different adjuvant was significant. The impact of Silwet 408 was the most significant, followed by AgroSpred 730,the last was NF100.The same adjuvant showed different effect on different formulations, the largest impact was found on SC,followed by WP,the minimum impact was found on EC.NF100 could increase the liquid droplets retention capabilities in rice leaf. The results suggested that surface tension was not the only factor to increase the holding and spreading of droplets on the leaves.
